The Wessex Institute of Technology is also known as WIT. This institute is located at Ashurst Lodge in the New Forest of England. At Wessex they offer higher degrees focusing on three major areas that include: Research, Publishing and Conferences. Wessex aims to knowledge transfer mechanisms that are directed to the exchange of info between academics and professional users within a particular industry. They do so in many different ways and through a lot of different activities. The Wessex Institute was established by Professor Carlos Brebbia in 1986. The Weessex Institute programs are funded by Industry and Research Organizations. There is a yearly event that is held during the Wessex Institute of Technology conference program in which the Prigogine Medal is awarded. This award was established in memory of LLya Prigogine Nobel Prize in Chemistry and has been awarded every year since 2004. Some of the Notable Prigogine Medal winners incluve Sven Jorgensen for the University of Copenhagen, Denmark in 2004, Bernard Patte, University of Georgia USA in 2006, Ioannis Antoniou, Greece in 2008, Gerald Pollack, University of Washington, USA in 2012 and most recently Bai-Lian Larry Li, University of California, USA in 2015.
